About the project
The Village in Action
In the summer of 2005 a youth conference and a leaders' seminar will take place, consecutively, in the UK. Participants in these events will return to their organisations and promote participation in Global Village activities by providing encouragement and help to local youth leaders in using on-line activities and resources which will have been developed specially for this project, and arranging local/national activities to support these.
During this period, arrangements for the financing, accommodation and programme of the 2006 Global Youth Festival will continue. These will include the recruitment and training of a team of young people who will facilitate the programme at the Festival.
In 2006, delegations from all participating organisations will travel to the UK to take part in the festival. Practical workshops and discussion seminars will take place during the daytime and a cultural programme will be provided in the evenings.
A youth parliament will meet throughout the Festival and all participants will have the opportunity to participate fully in a democratic decision making process to arriving at a set of outcomes from the Festival.
Space to exhibit ideas brought along to the Festival, and to broadcast these more widely, will be provided along with access to a range of dissemination media. We intend to broadcast the main events of the Festival to those who have not been able to be there - and use forms of interactive media to involve them.
